THEESatisfaction is a hip-hop duo from Seattle, WA, and their brand new album is called EarthEE. But the music is something more than just hip-hop. There is a lot of soul to the new album, along with incredibly smooth beats. THEESatisfaction has some serious sexy music, with their vocals ranging between sultry breathiness to crooning choruses. It’s hard to pinpoint my favorite song on EarthEE because the album is solid gold through and through. Ishmael Butler from Shabazz Palaces makes an appearance on a couple of songs “Blandlands” and “EarthEE”. THEESatisfaction has made one of the best albums this year already with EarthEE so make sure to listen to it.

The Grizzled Mighty

New music from the rocking duo out of Seattle. It’s The Grizzled Mighty with a new LP called Closed Knuckle Jaw. The Grizzled Mighty is a powerhouse blues-rock band from the Pacific Northwest. With just a guitarist/vocalist and a drummer, there’s a bunch of sound that comes out from the two rockers. The new album Closed Knuckle Jaw is packed full of party anthems, that have a sound similar to early Black Keys. The album starts off with a heavy hitter “Chantael” which immediately has a super catchy guitar riff. My favorite track from the album has to be “Miles Of Cocaine.” It is real gritty and has a wicked awesome guitar solo, along with singing about a bunch of cocaine. This band is a must see live as well, so check them out.

Today we’ve got some music from San Francisco. It’s a band called Couches. They recently released an EP called Slackin’ Since the 80s. Couches’ sound is full of grungy guitar riffs, cool unique vocals, and great songwriting. The nine song EP is a fast driven affair with songs that range from being about losing control, to taking it easy. Slackin’ Since the 80s definitely keeps to its name and the overall feeling is an EP that’s highly listenable. They will also be coming back to Treefort Music Fest this year as well.

Coma Serfs

A new EP recently released by Portland band, Coma Serfs. The EP is called Ready Or Not America! Here Come the Coma Serfs. The five song EP is a rumbling soundtrack to high energy party times. Coma Serfs have a psychedelic pop sound to them, bordering on the edge of chaos. Surfy guitar riffs, driving drum beats, and reverb vocals make up the sound for the Coma Serfs EP. Check ’em out.

Doncat + Matt Buetow

Music out of San Francisco called Doncat. His latest album is called Don Gato. Doncat’s music is a soulful affair of rock and roll. The sound is very bluesy with the amazing vocals of Duncan Nielsen, and crunchy guitar riffs/solos. Caught his band at Secret Society on Friday, and the live show has great energy, so be sure to catch them.

Yeah so @doncatmusic (SF) is something you should check out. #rocknroll

Matt Buetow is a local Portland artist. His latest album is called The Valley. The music is a mix of great songwriting along with a folk/grass-roots type of pop. The lap guitar gives it a little extra country twang in some songs. The album sounds great and the live show is just as riveting. Check them out.
