New music from local Portland band Reptaliens. The new album is called FM-2030 and it is made up of dreamy psych-pop sounds. The debut album is a wonderful piece of synthesizers and bass lines with breathy vocals. FM-2030 has a kind of sound that could be from the future radio for sure, I really enjoy how all the tracks flow together to make this album. My favorite tracks are “If You Want”, “666bus”, and “Satan’s Song”. The whole album feels almost effortless, just really well put together and it is so nice to listen to. Reptaliens are a great band to see live and to put on the record player. They’ll be playing Holocene on November 1st and the Wonder Ballroom on New Year’s Eve, don’t miss them!

New music from Richmond, VA band Minor Poet. The new album is called And How!. It is a riveting, beach-rock, summer haze kind of album. The songs are super catchy and well put together. The jangle of the guitar along with the vocals makes for a great combination. Minor Poet has that kind of sound that you can listen to anywhere, but is optimized on a bright, windy/sunny day. And How! is an album that makes the edges of everything a litter brighter and crisper. One of my favorite tracks, “Sudoku, An Enlightment”, is a testament to losing yourself to boredom and procrastination. “Judith Beheading Holofernes” is another favorite of mine, it is super catchy with that guitar rhythm and the vocal pattern. And How! by Minor Poet is not to be missed out on!
