Hi everyone, we are still here (barely) with a bunch of new indie music. Treefort Music Fest 7 is coming up in just under a month. So we are going to start featuring bands that you should see there, and also just listen to in general.
First band out of many is Acid Tongue from Brooklyn, NY. They have a great sound with a mixture of pop, grunge, and indie-rock. Acid Tongue’s latest release is their debut album called Babies. The song-writing is on point and the guitar licks are excellent, and though the lyrics are sometimes lacking in originality, that is definitely part of the charm of Acid Tongue. My favorite track is “Humpty Dumpty”, it’s super catchy! They have a bunch of tour date through April on the West Coast, and be sure to check Acid Tongue at Grainey’s Basement on Saturday night at Treefort Music Fest.
It’s that time of year again. Time to get hyped up for the next Treefort Music festival. We finally have our video review of Treefort 2017 up and available for your viewing pleasure. Make sure to stayed tuned as we delve deep into the Treefort 2018 lineup and pull some of the lesser known acts out so you don’t have to.
As always thank you to all the people who make Treefort Music Festival happen. The bands, the volunteers, the coordinators, the people, and of course the city of Boise. Every year seems to just keep getting better and better, and we are looking forward to Treefort 7!!

New music from the Cincinnati band Why? The new album is called Moh Lhean. The lead singer, Yoni Wolf, is one of my personal favorite songwriters of all time, and this new album sounds really good. Moh Lhean takes on a more sentimental tone overall. The one critic that I have is that the songs are pretty formulaic and have the same song structure for most of the album. Though that does not diminish the sound quality or the record. Why? creates each song with a sort of nostalgia or sense of reflection that makes Moh Lhean very enjoyable. My favorite track is the closer “The Barely Blur”. Why? is on a national and international tour all the way through June this year, make sure you catch them at Treefort Music fest this year as well!
New music from one of our favorite artists of all time, Delicate Steve. The new album is appropriately called This Is Steve. What a way to start off the weekend with this bright joy-filled album! Steve Marion makes music that is absolutely righteous. And ever since his first album Wondervisions came out nearly six years ago, I have been jamming Delicate Steve on 11 every summer. This Is Steve starts off a bit grittier than his previous works, but has that signature lead guitar that instantly makes you smile. Things get calmer starting at “Nightlife” which has a slight Calypso feel to it. The album as a whole is very classic Steve, the thing that stands out to me on this particular album is the drumming has changed a bit from those driving tracks to a more jazzy and rock style which is nice to listen to. Definitely a must own album for the new year. It’s hard to nail down my favorite track, but “Together” and “Driving” are up there.
Spirit Award is from Seattle, and will be playing at Treefort Music Fest this year. Their single “Las Vegas” came out back in August, and it sounds great. These guys have a classic indie-rock sound to them. They have great driving beats, along with catchy guitar riffs. It’s hard to believe that their sound comes from just three members. Definitely put them on your radar, they are going to come out with some excellent music!
