Sun Blood Stories

New release from Boise experimental band Sun Blood Stories. The new album is called It Runs Around the Room with Us. The high-desert experimental rock band hits all the weird spots in the best ways with their new release. It Runs Around the Room with Us brings you in close and gets intimate, then grabs your sanity by the eardrums and takes it for the ride of it’s life. The songwriting and flow of the album is seriously so good, it’s like Sun Blood Stories knows what you want to hear and guides you on that journey. The more mind-ripping tracks like “Great Destroyer”, “Echoer Approach”, and “Nothing Sacred Will Hold” has such an excellent groovy rhythm section underneath the chaos of the slide guitar. In other tracks the drums seem to be used as a tension release, which gives such a great feeling with this type of psychedelic rock. It Runs Around the Room with Us is one of the best albums I’ve listened to in the last couple of years. So if you’re able to catch Sun Blood Stories live I highly recommend that you attend.

Treefort Music Fest VI

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The first Treefort Music Fest VI artist announcement was released today! And so far it is looking stacked yet again for the sixth year in a row. Headliners include; Mac DeMarco, The Growlers, STRFKR, Deafheaven, and Why?. Also included in the first wave were Delicate Steve, The Album Leaf, 65daysofstatic, This Will Destroy You, Meat Puppets, Open Mike Eagle, Genders, and so much more. Check out the full lineup here.

We here at Killing Sasquatch find the hidden gems that all the cool people will be at this year. So here’s a couple of bands that you wont want to miss.

The Seshen

Hailing from the Bay Area, The Seshen brings a lovely, smooth R&B sound to an electronic beat-scape. Lead singer, Lalin St. Juste has an amazing voice that leads this seven piece. This is an act that you cannot miss at Treefort.

Flaural

Next up is Flaural from Denver, CO. These guys have a more classic psych-rock sound to them. THe music is very hypnotic and driving at the same time. They are another band that will rock your face off at Treefort VI.

Stay tuned for more unknown Treefort Music Fest artists and updates.

St. Terrible

Got some new music for you all with St. Terrible, a solo act out of Boise, ID. His latest release is called The Gospel of Nothingness and he recorded it with Psych Mt. Revival, a brother duo also from Boise. The album came out in June and it sounds great. St. Terrible has an awesome pop sound mixed with that neo-folk style. There’s a nice balance of vocals, guitars, harmonies, and other ambient noises. The Gospel of Nothingness is one of those albums that you listen all the way through a couple of times in a row. It is a great album to take down to the river on a hot breezy day.
St. Terrible makes this album flow so well, the first couple songs are really upbeat and jammy. Then with “Violence” it mellows out a little more, with a memorable harmony (that actually makes the melody). After that “Talking Dirty With the Spirits” reminds me of some early Animal Collective, it’s a really powerful pop-folk song. It’s hard to choose a favorite song, but the one that sticks out is “Shadows (Mouthless Yelling From the Void)” which starts out with a didgeridoo drone and keeps building through the vocals and drums. Very cool stuff from St. Vincent and Psych Mt. Revival. Do yourself a favor and check out The Gospel of Nothingness.
