Treefort Music Fest is one of the fastest growing music festivals that are out there. Every year it seems to get better and better, and I personally cannot wait until the end of March to go party in Boise, ID. Stay tuned for more excellent bands that will be playing at the festival.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The first Treefort Music Fest VI artist announcement was released today! And so far it is looking stacked yet again for the sixth year in a row. Headliners include; Mac DeMarco, The Growlers, STRFKR, Deafheaven, and Why?. Also included in the first wave were Delicate Steve, The Album Leaf, 65daysofstatic, This Will Destroy You, Meat Puppets, Open Mike Eagle, Genders, and so much more. Check out the full lineup here.
We here at Killing Sasquatch find the hidden gems that all the cool people will be at this year. So here’s a couple of bands that you wont want to miss.
Hailing from the Bay Area, The Seshen brings a lovely, smooth R&B sound to an electronic beat-scape. Lead singer, Lalin St. Juste has an amazing voice that leads this seven piece. This is an act that you cannot miss at Treefort.
Next up is Flaural from Denver, CO. These guys have a more classic psych-rock sound to them. THe music is very hypnotic and driving at the same time. They are another band that will rock your face off at Treefort VI.
Stay tuned for more unknown Treefort Music Fest artists and updates.

Got some new music for you all with St. Terrible, a solo act out of Boise, ID. His latest release is called The Gospel of Nothingness and he recorded it with Psych Mt. Revival, a brother duo also from Boise. The album came out in June and it sounds great. St. Terrible has an awesome pop sound mixed with that neo-folk style. There’s a nice balance of vocals, guitars, harmonies, and other ambient noises. The Gospel of Nothingness is one of those albums that you listen all the way through a couple of times in a row. It is a great album to take down to the river on a hot breezy day.
St. Terrible makes this album flow so well, the first couple songs are really upbeat and jammy. Then with “Violence” it mellows out a little more, with a memorable harmony (that actually makes the melody). After that “Talking Dirty With the Spirits” reminds me of some early Animal Collective, it’s a really powerful pop-folk song. It’s hard to choose a favorite song, but the one that sticks out is “Shadows (Mouthless Yelling From the Void)” which starts out with a didgeridoo drone and keeps building through the vocals and drums. Very cool stuff from St. Vincent and Psych Mt. Revival. Do yourself a favor and check out The Gospel of Nothingness.
With the last artist announcement and schedule finalization, Treefort Music Fest is officially in hype mode! To help get everyone informed of who to check out while in Boise, here’s a few artists that we are going to be checking out.
First is Jai Wolf, the electronic artist from New York. He has already made a name for himself with the track “Indian Summer” and a handful of remixes as well. With his lush beats and hard bass, this a dance party you won’t to miss Friday night at Rose Room.
The Roaring 420s
Next is The Roaring 420s all the way from Dresden, Germany. Their music is very much what you would expect; heavy psychedelic influenced pop-rock. They are super catchy and you know it’ll be a good time with the show also on Friday night at a new venue called The Olympic.
Mothers is definitely a different pace than the other two bands, but they are amazing songwriters. The falsetto vocals are quite astonishing and makes everything seem OK. They are from Athens, GA so be sure to check them out Friday as well, they play at Linen Building.
It’s almost two months away until the fifth installment of Treefort Music Festival in downtown Boise, ID. It has been a pleasure to see this festival mature and grow over the last five years. I’m really excited for this year! So, let me share some bands that will be playing later on in March.
The band JAWWZZ!! is from Salt Lake City. With a fuzzy garage rock style, the uptempo pop of the drum beats will keep you moving your booty all over the place. The heavy distortion on the guitars matches the vocal tone as well. I’m stoked to jump in and rip it up to JAWWZZ!! during Treefort.
Acid Dad is from NYC and they have a new EP that is just about to be released. They are a fast, heavy psych-rock band with great songwriting and catchy guitar riffs. The bass lines are super poppy as well, really dig these guys sound a bunch.
Here is Boise band, HiHazel. They are a psychedelic band that has more of a drone type of sound to it. A lot of repeated guitar riffs over a muddled bass line and vocals. It makes for great chilling out music. Definitely going to make it to this show.
