Treefort 10 Day 2
We were blown away by Treefort day 1 and wicked excited to start Treefort day 2 with Blood Lemon. Blood Lemon is special, an incredible supergroup formed between Melanie Radford from Marshall Poole & Lisa Simpson of Finn Riggins. A thousand years ago, Finn Riggins started organizing the network of regional Pacific Northwest and national indie bands that would give rise to Treefort Music Fest. Check out this playlist with music from Treefort 10 day 2.
Blood Lemon

So it’s so incredible to see Lisa coming out with new songs that are the culmination of so much rock music experience. Blood Lemon has everything you want in rock. It shreds, jams, grooves, slams and bumps. Every track is an instant classic. And they’re amazing live, it feels like you’re standing in a historic moment in time you’ll tell your grandkids about someday.
Indigo De Souza
Indigo De Souza should be on your radar. She’s a self-made singer-songwriter from the hardwood forests of western North Carolina. Recently “discovered,” by Saddle Creek Records her songs are thoughtful, catchy and resonate with an eerie remoteness.

Isla De Caras
Isla de Caras (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was a very chill surprise at the Radioland stage. Their pleasant, dreamy tunes drift out from the concrete slab mosaic of downtown boise. Their new album “Una Caricia” has a polished tropical psych sound that you should definitely check out.

The Joyrunners
Over at the punk dive The Shredder, epic local band The Joyrunners are putting out some amazing, hilarious tracks. “Generation” is a parody of the Boomer / Gen Z duality in Idaho saying “Aw it’s too hard / you can’t afford a car / well I got a mansion / and a basement with a bar.” The track “Deadbeat” has the feeling and sound of the pop-punk bands of the Millenial generation. The Joyrunners are melodic, clean and amazing honestly.

Guided By Voices
A pivotal indie band in the 90’s, Guided By Voices is so fun to see live. Their brand of old lo-fi rock always sounds like it’s broadcast from an AM radio station on another world. Singer/songwriter Robert Pollard has dance moves from over four decades and vibes with the crowd.

Smoker Dad
Smoker Dad out of Seattle is a riot. Ridiculously photogenic and fun. This is energetic rock / country / alternative music perfect for a hoe-down OR a hootenanny. Keep an eye out for Smoker Dad’s new album dropping April 8th 2022!

OSees
Blessed to see so many handsome bands. Praise be. OSees, formerly Thee Oh Sees are a massively prolific, massively awesome heavy rock / experimental psych group from San Francisco. The sun goes down at Main stage, and OSees illuminate the darkness with thundering riffs and the entrancing beats of two drummers.

GurILLA Glue
Gurilla Glue is Boise hip hop duo Weighn Beats and emcee Mo Digs coming together to make some sincerely fucking awesome old school rap. It has an old school west coast hip hop sound. Check out their self-titled GurILLA Glue LP.

Jay Wood
Jay Wood is a rapper that flew out from Brooklyn, NYC for Treefort 10. And we’re glad for it. He’s got a smooth r&b hip-hop and trap style with songs that are well produced and highly listenable.
SunDog
Psych-pop outfit from Anchorage AK, SunDog is one of our favorites. Like a real iridescent geometry of halos around the sun, these guys blind you with their beauty. SunDog takes a heavy metal psych sense and melts and bends the riffs into echoey pop songs. Do everyone a favor and go listen to SunDog right now.

WEEED
We like Weeed. Portland based “biocosmic” rock band has been around for 13 years already! We know them as a classic pdx psych outfit with fabulous live sets and this was among the best. We didn’t get great photos because we’re coming up on 8 straight hours of partying. It’s then we realize the “Sonic Temple” venue we’re dancing in is a masonic temple. But we don’t mind completing this masonic ritual in front of the altar of rock and we’ll do it again Friday on Treefort 10 Day 3.
